Systems Perspective & Sustainable Technologies
We must address the challenges of meeting the increasing demands for water, food, and energy in a resource-constrained world subjected to climate variations. STL's research is built on a systems perspective that evaluates the nexus of technology, economics, the environment, and policy. We focus on understanding these linkages to develop sustainable technologies and resilient strategies.
Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) & TEK
Unique to our lab is the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). By drawing upon the Indian scientific knowledge tradition—including Indian astronomy and traditional agriculture—we bridge ancient predictive frameworks with modern nexus analysis to pioneer new pathways in rural development and technology.

Heartiest congratulations to Dagguganta Mohan Chaitanya Reddy for being elected as the Student Coordinator / Head of Biocrats—the prestigious Departmental Club of Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering (BSBE) at IIT Indore.
We live in a resource-constrained world subjected to uncertain climate variations. We must address the challenges of meeting the increasing demands for water, food, and energy from growing populations within the context of the nutrient-food-energy-water-land nexus. A systems perspective considering the nexus of technology, economics, the environment, and policy is at the heart of our research program.
Our research is focused on understanding these linkages at the systems level to perform integrated analyses, develop sustainable technologies, and build resilient strategies.
